Purpose

Our community

There are activities throughout the week so that those living at Strathclyde House have plenty of opportunities to socialise and make friendships with fellowship evenings, carpet bowls, Bible studies and games evenings happening on a regular basis.

The management team at Strathclyde House is in the building between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Members of the team will always be happy to assist where possible with any questions and queries you might have. Additionally, we have an onsite Maintenance Officer who is able to assist with small maintenance tasks, and cleaners and gardeners attend the communal areas and grounds so that Strathclyde House always looks at its best.

Out and about in the local area

Strathclyde House is situated in Skelmorlie, a village next to the Firth of Clyde. As the House is just across the road from the firth, each flat has a lovely sea view.

There is a bus stop outside the House which allows for easy access to nearby towns and villages. Largs is the nearest town and is just a 10-minute drive along the coastal road. While Largs has many main street shops you can also take the bus north, which will take you through Greenock all the way to Glasgow.

Should you prefer not to go too far, Strathclyde House also has an onsite café, Home Kitchen. Home Kitchen is open seven days a week and offers both dine in and take away services as well as free delivery to all apartments in the house. Home Kitchen is run by Home Church Scotland who also hold Sunday services and midweek groups in the café.

Furthermore, Strathclyde House is in walking distance to our local Church of Scotland and more churches of different denominations can be found in Largs.

Meet Alison

Alison has lived at Royd Court, our housing scheme in West Yorkshire, since 2022, and during that time there her warmth, creativity and love of words have quietly enriched the community around her.

A poet for most of her life, she finds inspiration in friendship, faith and the shared experience of growing older.
